BGFA Burkina Faso
Current electrification rates in Burkina Faso are low: 75% of the total population (roughly 15 million people) and 90% of the population in rural areas (roughly 14 million people) do not have access to electricity.
Beyond the Grid Fund for Africa in Burkina Faso – YiiteFaso
The growing demand for energy services and the strong political will towards rural electrification create substantial opportunities for the development of a vibrant, decentralised, clean energy market.
Research shows that 47% of the population of Burkina Faso would optimally be served by clean hybrid mini-grids and stand-alone solar systems. Off-grid solutions therefore have a large potential in the country.
In Burkina Faso, the fund will be known under the name YiiteFaso, which means “light up the motherland/the homes” in the Bambara and Fula languages.
