Burkina Faso

On 7 November 2019, a workshop was held in Ouagadougou to collect input from a wide range of stakeholders for the design of the funding round in Burkina Faso, resulting in the outcomes found here.

Democratic Republic of the Congo (République démocratique du Congo)

A first funding round in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) closed for applications on 29 August 2022. The Call for Proposals invites private sector companies, i.e., energy service providers active in the off-grid sector, to apply for funding through a two-stage application process. The Pre-Qualification stage has been completed in October 2022 and applicants passing the review stage has been invited trough the online system in December 2022 to take part in the Final Application stage.

Liberia

On 29 October 2019, a workshop was held in Monrovia to collect input from a wide range of stakeholders for the design of the funding round in Liberia, resulting in the outcomes found here.

The Pre-Qualification stage of a Call for Proposals (BGFA1) targeted at Liberia closed for applications on 30 November 2020 and first projects contracted in 2022.

Mozambique (Moçambique)

On 2 October 2019, a workshop was held in Maputo to collect input from a wide range of stakeholders for the design of the funding round in Mozambique, resulting in the outcomes found here.

The Pre-Qualification stage of a Call for Proposals targeted at Mozambique (BGFA2) closed for applications on 29 March 2021. The re-launch of BGFA2 was open between 22 June 2023 – 31 August 2023. Evaluation of received applications is expected to take place in September-October 2023.

Uganda

On 15 December 2020, a workshop was held in Kampala to collect input from a wide range of stakeholders for the design of the funding round in Uganda.

A second funding round in Uganda is open and invites interested private sector companies to apply for funding before 4 May 2023. Read more about the new funding round (BGFA5).

Zambia

On 17-19 September 2019, a workshop was held in Lusaka to collect input from a wide range of stakeholders for the design of the funding round in Zambia, resulting in the outcomes found here.

The Pre-Qualification stage of a Call for Proposals (BGFA1) targeted at Zambia closed for applications on 30 November 2020 and first projects contracted in 2022.
